Motion Graphics
While at Wargaming I did a wide variety of motion graphics for a lot of different teams. These started as interactive prototypes of the apps we were designing for usability testing purposes, but included app animations, some white-box animations for a game that has not been announced, and even some internal morale/tutorial videos.
Before that I worked for a small game studio in Redmond called Detonator Games. They specialized in Facebook games with cute proportions and saturated color palettes. One of the things I tried to evangelize at the time was the importance of special effects as a means to create 'Wow!' moments in the game, and I took to the task eagerly.
Character animation was the main thing I did while at Detonator Games, where the big challenge was to create reusable character animations for dozens of different 2D sprite character models. We used Flash to turn the character parts into symbols, which could be swapped out with different colors and model variants. This kept the production time low and enabled me to work on a wide variety of animations, instead of having to re-do the same or a similar animation for every spearman variant.
